Interior Design

I’m Michelle and I’m the founder of Michelle Purcell Interior Design.

If you’ve found yourself on my page, I’m guessing you’re longing for a new interior but unsure of where to start?

I offer affordable design services to residential and commercial clients, ensuring that regardless of size or budget, your space is one to be proud of.

I believe Interior Design should be accessible for everyone, not just footballers! That’s why I keep my prices affordable, starting from £50. I pass on my trade discounts and after adapting to lockdown restrictions, I now also offer online design using 3d visual images and videos so the client can foresee the design before its implemented. This useful tool can also help you decide on furniture layout or building alterations, before the sledgehammer comes out!

“Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style.”

ABOUT ME

Hello! I’m Michelle. I live in Chester with my family, originally from Liverpool. Ever since I was little, I’ve been obsessed with interiors. I loved moving furniture about to freshen up a room, or swapping ornaments and pictures around, whilst annoying everyone else in the house! One of my earliest memories was back in the 80’s when I “rag-rolled” our kitchen walls with a plastic bag! Sounds horrendous but it looked fab!

I decided to train as an Interior Designer with the National Design Academy in 2019, after a long career in property development with my husband. We bought and renovated housing for rental or re-sale in the North of England and Northern Italy. We also renovated our family home too. Looking back, I’m not quite sure how we managed it with two young boys! But it was at this point that I realised how much I absolutely loved interiors. Not only that, but I love the renovation stage when things are stripped back to bare brick and the space is full of potential! I’ve also attended training with the leading Interior Stylist, Lucy Gough, learning how to achieve that glossy interior magazine look.

I specialise in achieving maximum potential in any space, making it work for you (and your family). Do you struggle with storage space ideas or just don’t use a room that much?

I’m a lover of colour as well as neutral schemes. When designing a room, you want to consider how you want to ‘feel’ in this space? The colour of a room has a massive impact on your mood. Colour is personal to us because of our personalities and our life experiences. If you get the colours right, you’re half way there to achieving a home that tells your story, or portrays a message to your customers.

I see people walking up and down the aisles of B&Q wondering what will go with what, feeling overwhelmed because there’s just too much choice, then go home and give up; Or countless good quality furniture being sold on Facebook Marketplace because of an impulse buy that just didn’t look right. We spend so much money on samples of paint but then can’t decide which colour to go for. Hiring a designer can save you money, helping you to only spend where you need to spend. Our finances are precious right now, but that doesn’t mean we can compromise on design or style. A high end look CAN be achieved on the High Street.

My own style can be seen in my Look Book on the next page. If you prefer images, why not visit my Instagram page to see photos of my own home as well as design and DIY advice?

If you’ve read this far, well done! If you’d like to work with a down to earth designer, with a good set of ears, drop me an email or text. I’d love to hear about what you’re wanting to achieve over an informal chat.
